Wyant Group supports 2nd Annual Walter Murray Car Show

The Wyant Group was excited to participate in the 2nd annual Walter Murray Collegiate Car Show on June 8, 2018. The car show, organized by students in the graduating class, raised funds for an end of the year trip to present their final projects.

Planning began at the start of the year, after the organizing students presented their plan to the principal for approval.

Over 20 students entered their own vehicles, and 10 dealerships, including Wyant Group affiliates Audi Saskatoon, Jubilee Ford and Mercedes-Benz Saskatoon were also represented. Several community members saw the signs, heard the gentle roar of the vehicles and entered their vehicles on the spot. Through donations, vehicle entrance fees and BBQ sales, the show raised well over $800.

The vehicles were categorized by style into muscle, domestic, imported, custom, and classic. Every vehicle entered received a free car wash and all students voted on each for Best in Category and Best Overall. Smaller prizes were available for the winner of each category and the best overall win was awarded a free automotive detailing.

Ryley Gillespie, one of the students organizing the event was very happy with the success of the event. “I think it’s great. It gets the whole school together looking at nice cars.” When asked which vehicle his favourite was, without hesitation he turned to an orange racing car revving behind him, “I like that one. That car will getcha places.”

Ryley’s teacher, Cassidy Tillman, who also assisted in the execution of the event, was proud of her students for their commitment to the events success. “It’s very exciting to see the students put in so much work and still tie in the curriculum, and on top of that get the student body and the community involved.”
